How long does a PowerPoint redesign take?

Most presentation designers quote a range of 5 to 10 working days for a 15 to 25 slide deck. Urgent jobs can be delivered in 24 to 72 hours, although designers tend to charge an additional fee for urgent work.

Slide Refinery can often turn around slides in 1 to 3 working days, with no additional fees.

What determines how much time is needed?

How long it takes to redesign a slide deck depends on factors including:

  • Whether the original slides are mainly text or images
  • Whether the end results are mainly text or images
  • Advanced elements such as image editing, animations or video editing

Additional time may be needed depending on the client’s own process for approving slides and requesting amendments.

How long does a slide deck typically take to design?

Our typical turnaround times are:

1–2 days

10-slide tidy-up

3–5 days

15 to 25 slide deck

5–7 days

30+ slide formal deck

5–10 days

Full reformat with master template

Our designers typically produce 8 to 12 slides per working day, once the content is final.

What if you need the slides done more quickly?

We can often deliver in 24 hours, even possibly same day, if the content is finalized. It depends how many slides there are, and how complex they are. Beyond a certain point you can’t fight the laws of physics, though. Slides take time.

What helps a slide design project be delivered more quickly?

  • Lock the script before design starts
  • Supply images, logos and data up front
  • Identify one approver with final sign-off
  • Agree fixed revision rounds, rather than allowing constant ad-hoc revisions

What slows down a slide design project?

  • Content still being written during design
  • Multiple reviewers with conflicting edits
  • Legal or compliance review happening after design
  • Logo and other image files supplied as low-resolution JPGs
  • Font licensing gaps
  • Late changes to design parameters that affect all slides, e.g. aspect ratio or colour scheme

Quick turnaround, e.g. 1 to 2 days, is possible. But it is not the best default plan. The ideal process allows two weeks between brief and delivery for a typical deck, and longer if there are multiple approvers.
