Can someone redesign your existing PowerPoint presentation?

Yes. Redesigning an existing slide deck is the most common job presentation designers do, more so than creating a brand new deck or a slide template.

A redesign is usually faster and cheaper than building a deck from scratch, because the content and structure are already in place.

What does a designer do with your file?

  • Opens your source file e.g. .pptx
  • Keeps your words, numbers and section order unless you ask for changes
  • Rebuilds each slide using a consistent visual system (fonts, colours, grid layout, spacing)
  • Replaces generic icons and clipart with cleaner equivalents
  • Fixes alignment and spacing
  • May perform more advanced tasks, for example converting charts to native objects so that they refresh when the data updates in the original spreadsheets, inserting advanced charts, or replacing low-quality images with more professional versions
  • Returns an editable .pptx so your team can keep updating it

What do you need to supply?

  • The source file, preferably a .pptx or Google Slides presentation; a designer can also work with PDFs and other formats, or create a brand new deck from Word content
  • If relevant, brand guidelines and approved fonts; optionally, logo files, although the designer may be able to find these from public sources
  • Optionally, flow instructions e.g. which slides are must-keep and which are flexible, or which slides cannot be split into multiple slides

What depth of service does the designer deliver?

There are different levels of intensity to what a designer can do for your slides. For example:

Tidy-up

Same slides, same words, cleaner look. The fastest and cheapest option

Rebuild

New layout and colour scheme, same content, master slides

Redesign and rewrite

Content reworked for pacing and clarity before design starts

Is my presentation kept confidential?

Designers will happily sign your NDA, or provide their own standard NDA. For regulated professions such as financial services or barristers, an NDA is a basic precaution.
